How to get an A+ in Naughty Nancy's Class
Oh, hey!
So, you’re ready to invest in your copy, branding or social media management. Kudos to you. You go Glen Coco! From top-line briefs to fiiiire feedback, here’s how to get an A+ in Naughty Nancy’s Class.
1.Read the Welcome Pack + fill out the Briefing Form
It seems pretty straightforward, but you’d be surprised by how many legends skip the paperwork section (boring!) to get to the good, juicy part (understandable). Our Welcome Pack tells you everything you need to know about working with us – from the kind of brand info we need to all the FAQs. So please, make a hot choccie, take a seat and enjoy some (light) reading, brought to you by the *naughtiest* copywriting team of all time. (Hehe.)

2. Embrace the traffic light system
Here’s a little something we picked up along our travels – behold, the traffic light system. Or, le système de feux de circulation in French – if you’re feelin’ fancy/are wearing a béret (we are).
… anyway! Moving right along…
The traffic light system works as follows: highlight anything you freakin’ love in green, anything NQR that needs to be tweaked in orange, and anything totally off-brand (or that you just don’t like that much) in red. This acts as a kind of temperature check for our writers, telling ‘em what direction you’d like to move in. It’s also a clever tool for you, so you’re not just leaving 101 comments on why you love us – although, you can totally do that. (Let the sea of green speak for itself!)
PSA: Commenting “HATE HATE HATE” is NOT going to get you an A+ in this department.
(But we will admit that How The Grinch Stole Christmas is a fabulous movie.)
3. GIVE US THE GOSS!
Yep, you read that one right. As part of our onboarding process, we encourage new clients to tell us ev-er-y-thing we need to know (relating to your business, your products and/or your services, obvs). There’s no such thing as TMI here, so we implore you to leave no detail behind. Go on – spill.
Who, me? I’m a Miranda. Wbu?
4. (Pretty please) play nice!
Mastering constructive criticism isn’t easy; in fact, it’s a learned life skill.
It’s so fine if you’re not a fan of our work – of course, we’ll be cut up about it, but we’ll do everything in our power to course-correct and leave you with an outcome you’re super happy with. All we ask in return is that you play nice and stick to the facts. Tell us why you don’t like certain words or phrases, for example, and how they could be better.
Things not to say?
Oh, you know. “You suck, your writing sucks, everything sucks”, and so forth.
5. LET. GO.
Working with NN is a collab, not a one-woman show. Handing over your business to another creative, freelancer or a studio can be pretty daunting, and if there’s anyone who truly *gets* that, it’s us. We’ll be the first to admit that letting go is HARD, but we promise it’ll be worth it. (Pinky promise!)
We’re here to bring our brand strategy, marketing and copywriting expertise to the table, so you can land your dream clients and stand out in your industry. Not to brag, but we’ve developed tone of voice and copy for some pre-tty huge brands, so we promise your brand is in very good hands with us. Basically, try to give a little. Let go. Leave us some wiggle room. Trust us and the process, and you’ll fall in love with the outcome.
That’s it! Follow these 5 tips, and you’ll be in our Fave Clients Hall of Fame in no time. Just kidding, we don’t play favourites …
… or do we?!
Ciao for now!
